What is Fluorene derivative?

Fluorene is one of the components contained in coal tar, a by-product obtained during the carbonization of coal.
Fluorene derivatives with aromatic rings bonded to fluorene have a three-dimensional configuration called the cardo structure.
This cardo structure has a high refractive index and high heat resistance due to the large number of aromatic rings. Furthermore, The optical anisotropy is cancelled out and birefringence is low since the aromatic rings of the fluorene derivatives are oriented differently. Fluorene derivatives are mainly used in optical and electronic material applications, taking advantage of this property.
We offer a variety of fluorene derivatives, including thermoplastic polyesters, photocurable acrylates, and thermosetting epoxies based on phenol- or alcohol-terminated fluorene monomers.
