Regarding the endorsement of the position paper issued by The Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association to the proposed amendments to the ELV Directive.

In response to the proposed amendments to the ELV Directive currently being discussed in the European Parliament, the Japan Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association (JCMA) issued a position paper emphasizing the value of carbon fiber in Europe, considering its ability to support a circular, low-environmental-impact society.

We endorse this position paper and are committed to fully cooperating in raising public awareness of its contents.

This position paper presents examples of the contributions of carbon fiber to the automotive industry, highlights recycling applications, provides evidence of its health effects, and calls for carbon fiber to be properly handled under the ELV Directive based on the following assertions:

1. Carbon Fiber is Indispensable for a Hydrogen Society
2. Carbon Fiber is Indispensable for the High-Performance Automobiles
3. Carbon Fiber is Indispensable for Europe's Key Industries
4. Carbon Fiber is a Recyclable Material
5. Insufficient Evidence of Health Impacts
