  • Beginning

    1926

    Beginning of the Activated Carbon Business

    Imported the activated carbon CARBORAFIN from Bayer AG and sold it to sake brewers.

  • 1933

    The birth of SHIRASAGI activated carbon

    Started production of the wood-based powdered activated carbon KYORYOKU SHIRASAGI at the Osaka Plant (then Takeda Pharmaceutical).

  • 1934-1968

    In the 1930s, SHIRASAGI products were
    widely adopted in industries such as food,
    pharmaceuticals and chemicals following
    after the launch of "Kyouryoku Shirasagi"
    of zinc-chloride activated carbon.
    During the high economic growth period, activated carbon came into use for pollution control purposes. To meet diversifying needs, domestic production sites were reorganized and manufacturing
    capabilities strengthened.

  • 1969

    Minabe Chemical Industries was established.

    Started production of wood-based zinc chloride-activated carbon.
    (Later expanded its product range to steam-activated carbon and impregnated activated carbon.)

    Century Chemical works Sdn. Bhd. was established.

    Started production of wood-based steam-activated carbon in Malaysia.

    Davao Central Chemical was established.

    Started production of coconut-shell-based steam-activated carbon in Philippines.

    Started a partnership with Hakata Chemical Co., Ltd.

    Started production of spherical activated carbon.
    (Later expanded its product range to impregnated activated carbon.)

    Integrating material businesss and processing business.

    Osaka Gas Chemicals inherited Takeda Pharmaceutical's activated carbon business.

    The Jacobi Carbons joined the Osaka Gas Chemicals Group.

    Integrated Jacobi Carbons, an activated carbon manufacturing and sales company, and its 19 affiliated companies into the Osaka Gas Chemicals Group.
