Merger between Osaka Gas Chemicals and Japan EnviroChemicals

Osaka Gas Chemicals Co., Ltd. (President: Masataka Fujiwara; hereinafter “OGC”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd., today announced it will merge with its subsidiary Japan EnviroChemicals, Ltd. (President Masataka Fujiwara; hereinafter “JEC”) on April 1, 2015.

Since JEC was incorporated into the OGC group in 2005, the two companies have worked together in business operations and management as part of their efforts toward integration. The latest decision to merge, coming after establishment of its environment following joint efforts by the two companies, is aimed at creating new businesses through more efficient use of their business resources such as human resources, technologies and know-how, and enhancing competitiveness of existing businesses.

At present, OGC is mainly engaged in the manufacture and distribution of fine materials, carbon fiber and adsorbents. Primary business fields of JEC are the manufacture and distribution of activated carbon, wood care products and industrial preservatives. Following the planned merger, the integrated company will operate and manage these businesses in a unified manner and strive to further enhance business efficiency. As a comprehensive manufacturer of functional materials, the new company will combine mainstay businesses of OGC and JEC, and provide valuable solutions by meeting a variety of customer needs.
